Dr. Shane Eade – Chiropractor

Shane has lived in Geelong since the age of 4, attending Geelong West Primary School and Western Heights Secondary College, before going on to study Chiropractic at RMIT in Melbourne. Growing up in Geelong, he played local football and cricket and continues to have connections to local sporting clubs.

Shane has 20 years of experience as a registered Chiropractor and has attained the International Chiropractic Sports Science Diploma (ICSSD), which has allowed him to work with elite athletes over the years. The majority of his usual workday however is spent providing care to a wide variety of people of all ages.

After graduating in 2000 he established East Geelong Chiropractic. Having grown the practice for 10 years, Shane and his family relocated to Byron Bay in NSW for an adventure and established a new clinic while in the Byron Shire.

In 2020, Shane had the opportunity to buy back his original practice at East Geelong Chiropractic. Having come full circle, Shane and his family are enjoying being back in Geelong, closer to family and friends.

When not at work, Shane enjoys watching the local football, exploring new areas in his old car, or testing out a new coffee shop.

Techniques Used:

Chiropractic techniques usually fall into a few different categories:

• Traditional manual adjustment. Using a very specific contact on the spine, we apply a high-velocity thrust into misaligned or fixated vertebrae in order to free it up. This often results in a cracking or popping noise as gas is released within the joint.

• Drop table adjustments. Using a specialised chiropractic table, the spine is adjusted with the help of a dropping mechanism. This helps to free up the fixated spine while keeping the body in a very neutral position. Rarely does this cause the joint to ‘pop’?

• Low Force adjustments. Using an adjusting tool such as an ‘activator’, we can deliver a very specific and gentle adjustment to the spine. Ideal for children, the elderly, or people who don’t like to be ‘cracked’, the activator adjustment is often described by people as the ‘little clicking gun’. Another low force technique is the use of ‘blocks’ or wedges that are used to help gently balance the pelvis and sacroiliac joints with the help of gravity as you lay flat on the table.

• Soft tissue therapy. Like a deep tissue massage, this is designed to break up any deep knots or myofascial trigger points within the muscles. These trigger points are a well-recognised source of pain and discomfort and are a major cause of headaches and sciatic pain.

• Extremity adjustments. Chiropractors like Shane are trained to also detect and manage any problems in other areas of the body.
